TOPIA | ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Topia is a Kiribati-American artist from Burlington, Vermont, blending hip-hop, R&B, and club music into a sound that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. His latest project, KO RABWA, is more than just an album—it’s a heartfelt thank you.

“‘KO RABWA’ means ‘thank you’ in my dad’s language,Kiribati,” Topia explains. “The whole project is a big thank you to my family and friends for shaping me into who I am today.”

The album was sparked by a period of deep reflection, living away from home, and feeling the weight of personal loss through close friends. These experiences shaped KO RABWA into a defining statement of his artistic mission.

But as one chapter closes, another begins. With the New Year came a realization—Topia spent KO RABWA being selfless, and now, he’s ready to be a little selfish. His next project will lean heavily into R&B and club sounds, capturing the energy and ambition driving him forward.

Inspired by artists like PARTYNEXTDOOR and Brent Faiyaz, Topia remains fueled by the same passion that first led him to create—crafting beats, recording vocals, and building worlds through sound.

When he’s not working in his own studio, you’ll find him at a space run by his close collaborators, Caleb Lodish and PDG Flex. “I really love the community they’re building here,” he says.
